Some of those images, as well as illustrations in this article, look like science fiction. Yet it is the reality of today’s technology – with artificial intelligence (AI) you can create beautiful, breathtaking art, with a significant role for various technological wonders such as text prompts, iterations and seeds.

But how do these complex concepts actually work? And how do they influence the final artwork produced by AI, driven by – in these examples – the writer of this article? Let’s figure that out together.

When generating images or works of art, the text prompt plays a crucial role. It serves as the initial input, the sparkling spark that sets the AI’s creative process in motion. A text prompt can be as simple as “a sunset by the sea” or as complex as “a futuristic city illuminated by neon lights”.

The AI of the art generator DreamStudio I used is based on its trained model, interprets it promptly and starts generating a first unique image that I may or may not use for a subsequent similar or completely different illustration.

Iterations are the steps AI takes to learn and improve. When creating art, an AI will go through multiple iterations, each time refining and adjusting, until the end result is best approached the desired goal. That is my method for all illustrations on the aitopic.nl.

It is a kind of trial-and-error process in which the system learns from its mistakes and continuously improves itself. This process of learning and adapting is crucial to produce high-quality, detailed images. The interaction with this process of the various AI art generators is one of the most fascinating and exciting works on this website.

Seeds, or in technical terms ‘random seeds’, offer the necessary variety in AI-generated art. A seed is a random number that is used as input by the generative algorithms to start the creative process within the art generator.

While the process of generating art is consistent, the seeds provide variety. By using different seeds, AI can generate different interpretations of the same text prompt, creating a wealth of unique and diverse works of art. Compare it to the different types of paint, colors and brushes an artist uses, for example while creating a new painting.

In addition to text prompts, iterations, and seeds, there are other aspects that play a role in AI generation of art. The architecture of the AI model, the size and diversity of the training set, and the learning process itself can all influence the end result. Human interaction also plays an important role, as the AI must be guided and trained by human hands and minds.

The generation of illustrations or art by Artificial Intelligence is a fascinating and complex process that seamlessly brings technology and creativity together. Through text prompts, iterations, and seeds, AI can create unique, inspiring works that push or even challenge the boundaries of traditional art.
