The origin of an idea
As the creative brain behind aitopic.nl, I almost always use a digital notebook (AudioPen) for my ideas, ranging from abstract concepts to detailed visions.
Once an idea really keeps me busy, I know it’s time to make it a reality with the help of an AI art generator.
The serie Cyber twins accompanying this blog post is an example of this. It has given me so many exciting results in just over a week that I divide them into two blogposts for logistical reasons.
Complexity in simplicity: textprompts
A good start is half the battle. I spend a lot of time formulating the perfect text prompt. This short text is, as it were, the DNA of the future work of art; it contains all the essential information the AI generator needs to realize my vision.
For example, for these series I first got the idea of developing a cyborg (from the English cybernetic organism) – the physical fusion of man and machine. I wanted to emphasize realizing a series of cyborg women — and that’s how the first collection was created that quickly ended up in the trash: too many white women.
The idea for a mixed company was born and text prompts adapted.
The final idea built on this and for each work created I came up with a different variant – and so the idea of cyborg twins was realized. Eventually, the title became Cyber twins.
Powering the AI Art Generator: settings and parameters
With the text prompt ready, I dive into the world of AI settings. I experiment with the number of iterations, styles, and dimensions.
I often use a different seed to influence the chance factor. Or I use additional images as input to generate more complex works.
The finishing touch: Adobe Photoshop
Once the AI generator has done its job, it’s my turn to refine the artwork.
I import the image into Adobe Photoshop and use tools like Curves, Levels, Contrast, Hue, Saturation, etc. to take the work to a professional level. When I’m looking for a unique effect, I reach for filters.
End result: a new message and a new gallery of unique works
There are now more than 1000 unique works to admire aitopic.nl . On Instagram, I have a growing portfolio. Each work is a result of the workflow described above of this extensive, iterative process, in which both technology and personal creativity come together.
