The city of Cologne in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia is our favorite city for many reasons.
Just under an hour’s drive from Tegelen, situated on the Rhine, with a comforting ease, free parking, excellent public transport, and fascinating attractions, we have been visiting here regularly for decades.

The modern, dynamic city life, the mix of urban architectural styles, the global atmosphere, the magnificent museums, and especially the amiable residents and their typical dialect that feels as familiar as our Limburgian dialects are ingredients for a pleasant day in Cologne.
The many unexpected events, street artists, shops, the beautiful, lively park on the western bank of the Rhine, the Old Town, the Cathedral and its surroundings, the Neumarkt, Heumarkt – they have contributed to many of our memories over the years, and they still do.
